Privacy for Snowman and What's the Word

Effective October 21, 2026

Snowman and What's the Word are games for iPhone made by JC Technologies LLC. The short version: neither app collects any data. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and nothing you do in a game is sent to us or anyone else.

What stays on your iPhone

Your settings, player names, your own words, a saved game and your streak are stored on your iPhone so the game remembers them. They are deleted when you delete the app.

Apple Intelligence

Fresh Words in Snowman, and Fresh Cards and the solo bot in What's the Word, use Apple Intelligence running on your iPhone. A theme you type, your own words, and the clues you give the bot are used only on the device and are not sent anywhere. You can turn Fresh Words and Fresh Cards off, and the bot plays only when you choose a solo game.

Camera (What's the Word)

On iPhone Duo, the camera runs only during a turn, because iPhone shows the outside screen only while a camera is running. It appears as a small live picture in a corner of the inside screen. Nothing is recorded, saved, analysed or sent, and the app never asks for your photo library.

Microphone (What's the Word)

The microphone is used only in Referee mode, which is off unless you turn it on and listens during a card for the words you can’t say, and during a You Describe solo round, where the bot listens to your clues. Speech is recognised on your iPhone; no audio is recorded, stored or sent.

Children

Snowman is made for everyone, including children, and collects nothing from anyone. What's the Word is rated 18+ for its grown-up card decks.
